同乐城官网 www.xyqp168.com Whether you are attracted to Italy's Medieval and Renaissance culture, to Italy's cinematic heritage or to Italy's fascinating history or artistic production over the centuries, the Italian department at JAGS will give you the opportunity to build up your knowledge of Italy's rich past, its language and its culture.
Italian is a lively and popular subject at JAGS. It is taught from Year 8 to Year 13. It boasts a wide range of trips to Italy (Tuscany, Venice, Milan, Naples) and to a wealth of Italian cultural events in London. Our Y9 pupils are involved in an eTwinning project with a school in Italy, Istituto Comprensivo Villa’ D’Alme’ (Bergamo) .
As we believe that enthusiasm and interest are key factors in learning, the language and the cultural aspects of Italy are taught through a wide range of activities devised to integrate and enhance the main textbooks, such as songs, debates and poetry writing in Year 8 and Year 9.
In Year 10 and Year 11 we develop the ability to use the language effectively for practical communication both in speech and in writing. Finally, in Year 12 and Year 13 we build on these skills to acquire an accurate command of the more complex language. The students will keep up to date on the latest developments in Italian politics, social issues, the environment, youth culture and world-wide questions and enjoy Italian literature, learning to develop analytical skills and their independent opinions, and will argue them effectively.
Over 191,000 schools in Europe take part in eTwinning which provides a virtual platform for teachers to collaborate with each other and develop projects for their pupils to work on together. It is part Erasmus+, the EU programme for education, youth and sport.
JAGS is one of just 29 schools in the UK to be accredited as an eTwinning School, and last year our Italian projects was awarded the prestigious Quality Label.
