同乐城官网 www.xyqp168.com Athletes from JAGS took on schools from around the country at the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships, coming away with two team gold medals, as well as Martha in Year 4 becoming U10 National Champion.
The event took place at Crystal Palace Sports Centre on 16th March and consisted of both a swim and a run on the athletics track. In total, 12 athletes took part from the Prep School, and 9 athletes from the Senior School.
Despite cold, windy and wet weather, 2 action-packed days of competition saw around 1400 athletes compete fairly and enthusiastically across almost 300 separate heats of running and swimming.
Neither the cold nor the rain could dampen the spirits of the energetic schoolgirls as Sophia, Margaret and Anna in Year 6 worked together to all finish in the top 20 in a field of over 150 competitors in the Under 11s heat. The combined times they achieved were enough to secure team gold by some distance above the second placed team.
In the Under 10s race, Martha, Tallulah and Bonnie did remarkably well to win the gold team medal in their event with nearly 100 competitors. Martha performed exceptionally well, coming first overall and becoming the U10 National Champion.
After the race, Martha said:
"I trained really hard over Christmas for the running and worked hard in Swim Squad at school. The day was really fun but I was a bit nervous. I was very excited to be U10 National Champion.
Athletes from the senior school were also celebrating with great results across their teams, particularly the U13 team, Ivanna, Trinity and Hannah, who very narrowly missed out on a bronze medal.
All the athletes performed exceptionally well and were great representatives of the school. Well done to all!
